How the system works
Hong Kong school progression: through-train, feeder and linked schools
Progression links describe formal arrangements between two schools. They cannot be inferred from shared names or sponsoring bodies alone.
Formal relationships
Through-train describes a formal primary-to-secondary progression relationship. Progression remains subject to the conditions published by that school combination.
Feeder primary and secondary schools have a formal relationship under the Secondary School Places Allocation System. Check current Education Bureau documents and school information for places arrangements and conditions.
Linked primary and secondary schools also have a recognised relationship, but their arrangements differ from feeder and through-train schools.
Through-train, feeder and linked relationships do not guarantee unconditional progression. Consult formal documents for any special conditions.
Having the same sponsoring body does not automatically establish a formal through-train, feeder or linked relationship. Verify school profiles and current system documents.
